Glossary

MAX 7000

An Altera® device family based on the second generation of Multiple Array MatriX architecture, which includes MAX® 7000AE and MAX 7000B devices. These EEPROM-based devices include the EPM7032AE, EPM7032B, EPM7064AE, EPM7064B, EPM7128AE, EPM7128B, EPM7256AE, EPM7256B, EPM7512AE, and EPM7512B devices.

MAX 7000AE devices are 3.3V devices, and MAX 7000B devices are 2.5V devices. Both device families offer up to six pin- or logic-driven output enable signals and multiple global clocks with optional inversion. MAX 7000 devices also offer the additional capability of in-system programming (ISP) via JTAG BST circuitry.

You can use device migration to transfer a design from a MAX 7000 device to a larger or smaller SameFrame MAX 7000 device, or to a MAX 7000 device with equivalent pin-outs, while maintaining the same board layout and pin assignments.

In Quartus® II Help, any reference only to the MAX 7000 family can be interpreted as a reference to all variations of the MAX 7000 family, namely, MAX 7000AE and MAX 7000B. However, when both "MAX 7000" and a specific variation such as "MAX 7000AE" are mentioned explicitly, the information in the Help topic applies only to MAX 7000 and MAX 7000AE devices, and not to other variations, such as MAX 7000B.
