Initialization data in Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) File(s) cannot be used for memory region at address [0x<number>, 0x<number>] because memory region is not mapped

CAUSE:

You attempted to generate a flash programming file or one or more passive programming files. However, one or more Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) Files (.hex) necessary for generating the flash or passive programming files contain initialization data for a memory region at the specified address, but you did not map the memory region. If a HEX File contains initialization data for a memory region, you must map the memory region. This error can occur because of one of the following reasons:

  • You did not map the memory region when editing the System Build Descriptor File (.sbd) for the current project.

  • The Software Builder automatically generated a HEX File that contains data for a memory region you did not map.

  • You specified a HEX File that contains initialization data for a memory region you did not map.

ACTION:

Perform one of the following actions:

  • Use the ARM-based Excalibur MegaWizard Plug-In to map the memory region in the SBD File.

  • If you are using the Software Builder to generate the flash or passive programming files, specify linker settings to make sure the Software Builder generates a HEX File that contains initialization data for mapped memory regions only.

  • If you specified the HEX File(s), specify different HEX Files that contain initialization data for mapped memory regions only. If necessary, generate new HEX Files using the Software Builder or a code converter, and use these new HEX Files when generating the flash or passive programming files.
