8. Double-click on the block instance I0 (xmit_rcv_control). This automatically launches the Schematic Viewer. Zoom in to that object. The Hierarchy Browser provides an efficient way to navigate through a design and find objects of interest.

Once the Schematic Viewer has been invoked, a new taskbar called Design Analysis is displayed.

9. In the Main window click on the tab at the bottom of the pane that says Design Center.

10. Click on the Design taskbar. Once you have displayed the Design taskbar, click on the Synthesize icon to execute the "Synthesize" command.

11. After the design has finished synthesizing, examine the hierarchy once again in the Design Hierarchy Browser. Do you notice anything different? Try expanding the design and try to find the block instance I0 (xmit_rcv_control). Can you find it? If not, it is because the design hierarchy has been "flattened" during synthesis.

Double click on the instance I4 (serial interface) to load it into the Schematic Viewer. Notice that the Schematic Viewer now shows Xilinx schematics using Xilinx primitive symbols.
