The Source window toolbar

Buttons on the Source window toolbar give you quick access to these ModelSim commands and functions.

Compile Source File open the Compile HDL Source File dialog	File > Compile	use vcom or vlog command at the VSIM prompt see: vcom or vlog command
Open Source File open the Open File dialog box (you can open any text file for editing in the Source window)	File > Open	select an HDL item in the Structure window, the associated source file is loaded into the Source window
Save Source File save the file in the Source window	File > Save	none
Cut cut the selected text within the Source window	Edit > Cut	see: "Mouse and keyboard shortcuts"
Copy copy the selected text within the Source window	Edit > Copy	see: "Mouse and keyboard shortcuts"
Paste paste the copied text to the cursor location	Edit > Paste	see: "Mouse and keyboard shortcuts"
Find find the specified text string within the source file; match case option	Edit > Find	<control -f> (Windows) <control -s> (UNIX)
Step steps the current simulation to the next HDL statement	Main window: Run > Step	use step command at the VSIM prompt see: step command
Step Over HDL statements are executed but treated as simple statements instead of entered and traced line by line	Main window: Run > Step -Over	use the step -over command at the VSIM prompt see: step command
