The "UNUSED" parameter value for a parameter directs the Quartus^® II software to ignore the parameter for the current megafunction, and also to ignore any inherited values of that parameter that have been specified in a higher-level design file or at the global project level. However, if you specify the "UNUSED" value for a parameter that requires a default value, and if no default value has been specified, the Quartus II software issues a message during compilation warning that it cannot find the inherited or default value for that parameter.
